Every week Spook comes together for a shared activity! With gezellige, educational, creative and sporty activities Spook has something for everyone. In a month we typically organise a borrel, a movie night, an arts-and-crafts activity like making ghouls out of clay, and more. Last year we organised a socialist cantus, a swordfighting clinic, city walks and a short movie screening in collaboration with GoShort, to name a few.
We also like educational activities like lectures with a socialist theme and we like to celebrate significant socialist dates, like the French Revolution or Lenin’s birthday. Sounds fun? Become a member!
As the oldest city in the Netherlands, Nijmegen has a rich socialist history.
Take the Piersonstraat riots, or the Voordeurdelers rebellion. The Nijmegen students and citizens were so leftist that the place was known as ‘Havana on the Waal.’
